FROM BEACH LIFE IN THAILAND TO A SUCCESSFUL WIX PARTNER

Back in 2017, I was living a high life as a sales & marketing manager for a luxury villa brand on the beach on Koh Samui, Thailand. I lived in flip-flops, I ate the most delicious Thai food and sipped the most exotic cocktails all whilst watching the sunset every day with my Chihuahua, Gizmo.

IN 2017 I DISCOVERED MY WORLD WAS ABOUT TO CHANGE DRAMATICALLY, IN WAYS I COULD NEVER HAVE IMAGINED!

To my huge surprise, I found out I was pregnant. I had not planned to have children and I did not feel even remotely ready to become a parent. My entire world came crashing down around me as I processed what was happening. I was completely torn. I did not want to give up on a career that I had worked so hard to get but I knew what I had to do. That thought was terrifying. The idea of unexpectedly becoming a parent is enough to process but to find out that it was going to happen in another country so far from home and that I was going to have to do it alone was terrifying. How would I work? How would I provide the best for my baby? There was only one thing for it…

I SAID GOODBYE TO MY CAREER, AND LIFE IN THAILAND

I AM HOME.....

By Christmas 2017, I had moved back to the UK. I was even able to bring Gizmo with me, leaving him behind would have been too much to bear! I was lucky that some friends of mine in Thailand were managing a group of villas and they asked me to help them with the marketing. This meant that I could still work and have an income that was flexible for the remainder of my pregnancy and during the newborn stage. Then, in March 2018, Noah was born. Nothing can prepare you for the transition from a pregnant woman to a mother, it is a mammoth shift, but I would not change a thing.

After taking a couple of months of maternity leave, I resumed working a few hours a week. This is when I first discovered WIX. The friends I was working for asked me to help them with their website. Initially, I investigated WordPress, but I ended up ripping my hair out, it all just seemed so complicated and like a completely different language! I approached a few website designers too, but they were well over the available budget. Finding WIX meant that I could easily create a beautiful website that did exactly what my client needed without the hefty price tag. I was in love with how easy it was to use.

A few months later I decided to get in touch with some small business owners in my area. It was great to get out and meet new people who were building their own businesses around their families. I started to attend networking events and began to offer WIX website builds for £150 so that I could test the interest and start to build my portfolio.

One year on, and I had fully set up the KH Marketing UK brand, I had gained lots of happy clients, a selection of wonderful reviews, and managed to teach myself WIX all around my son. I became very savvy at online networking and my business went from strength to strength.

3 YEARS LATER

In May 2021, I became a certified WIX partner. This has opened even more doors for me and has allowed me to reach even more clients.

As well as working on my portfolio and social proof, I have had sessions with business coaches, who have helped to guide me on building my business, I am pleased to say that it is now thriving.

This time two years ago, I had no idea that I would be running my own business and certainly could never have anticipated that something that started as a hobby would evolve through being a nice side-line until I got back into working full-time and then go on to become a successful business that I could do in my own time around enjoying being a mum. It really has been the most incredible journey!

Of course, it has been a huge rollercoaster, with tears, fear, excitement, and craziness but it has been the best ride of my life! With no experience in design or website design, I did not even know this skill was within me. Thanks to WIX I not only discovered a new passion but a new career and achieved the ultimate goal of a work/life balance.
